Frameless Shower Glass Options

Whether it’s Low-Iron, Satin Etch, or a specialty pattern, choosing a custom glass will make a dramatic impact to the look and feel of your shower.

Glass Options for 3/8″ or 1/2″ Glass

The light and colors in the environment will impact the look of the glass.  Many samples can be viewed in person in our showroom.

Low-Iron Glass

The most common glass alternative is Low-Iron glass. It’s the iron in glass that gives it a green tint. Less iron means less green.

Standard clear glass can be seen throughout our day-to-day lives in our house windows, car windows, and throughout commercial buildings. It often goes undetected. However, in some bathrooms, homeowners may find that the green tint shows up quite a bit, especially in a room filled with natural light and white tiles.

If a brighter, clearer glass is desired, ask for low-iron.

Satin Etch Glass

Satin Etch Glass is created through a chemical process of removing the smooth outer layer of glass to create a “frosted” look that reduces the transparency of the glass. This chemical process is used to reproduce the look created by sandblasting.

One caution for homeowners choosing Satin Etch is that the surface of the glass is made more porous after this process, so it is more prone to staining from the environment, especially the oils in our hands. We always place the etched side of the glass on the outside of the shower and the smooth, easier to clean side on the inside of the shower. We also recommend purchasing glass coating. Our Diamon-Fusion application method coats and protects both sides of the glass.

Low-Iron Satin Etch Glass

The process of etching glass tends to accentuate the green look of the glass. Using Low-Iron Satin Etch creates a whiter and brighter finished look.

Patterned Glass

A variety of patterns and textures are available for frameless glass showers. Patterned glass can provide a variety of benefits:

  • Create a beautiful focal point in the room

  • Provide more privacy while showering

  • Camouflage water spots between cleaning

  • Hide an unsightly shower interior

Scroll through the images at the top of this page to see pattern choices available for 3/8” or 1/2” glass. Size limitations and extended lead-times may apply.

Sandblasted Patterns

Your digital image can be etched into the glass to create a truly one of a kind masterpiece. Or have stripes etched in the glass to create partial privacy bands.

Full Color Printing

The process for printing on glass is similar to digital printing, but the “ink” is finely ground colored glass that is then baked on to create a permanent bond. What can you print on glass? Whatever you can imagine!
